Fifth Avenue Hotel

I conceptualized and illustrated an exclusive neighborhood map for the prestigious luxury hotel situated in New York’s vibrant NoMad district, a neighborhood rich in both history and architectural splendor. Drawing inspiration from the French term for “wanderer” (flaneur), I reimagined this figure as a fashionable socialite an elegant, curious explorer, immersed in the sophistication and charm of New York City. The character, with an innate sense of style, navigates the city, captivated by the architectural grandeur and the neighborhood’s dynamic spirit.

This bespoke illustration is a refined aerial map, created with meticulous detail to showcase New York’s iconic skyline, from the towering Empire State Building in the north to the more intimate and fascinating landmarks to the south. Every block and corner has been thoughtfully illustrated, highlighting not just the architectural marvels, but also the local shops, eateries, and hidden gems for guests to enjoy during their stay.

Influenced by vintage New York maps from the 1950s, I crafted the map while spending time in various spaces within the hotel and exploring the NoMad neighborhood, capturing the area’s distinctive character. The color palette and opulent details mirror the hotel’s luxurious ambiance, seamlessly integrating the rich hues of the hotel’s interiors with the elegance of the neighborhood. This map is not only a tribute to the beauty of New York but also a keepsake inviting guests to explore the city’s timeless allure.
